Cooking Eggs in an Air Fryer

Air fryers vary, so treat these timings as starting points and adjust after the first batch.

Whole Eggs in the Shell

Use this method for boiled-style eggs.

Ingredients

  • Eggs, in their shells
  • Ice and cold water, for cooling

Instructions

  1. Place the eggs directly in the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook at 130–150°C until done to your liking:
  3. Soft-boiled style: 10–11 minutes
  4. Hard-boiled style: about 15 minutes
  5. Transfer the eggs straight into iced water to stop the cooking.
  6. Peel once cool enough to handle.

Fried Eggs

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • A little oil or butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a small oven-safe dish, ramekin, or silicone mould.
  2. Crack in the egg.
  3. Air fry at 180°C for 3–5 minutes, until the white is set and the yolk is done to your liking.

Scrambled Eggs

Ingredients

  • 1–2 eggs
  • A little oil or butter, for greasing
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a ramekin or small oven-safe dish.
  2. Whisk the eggs with salt and pepper.
  3. Air fry at 180°C, stirring once or twice, until just set.

Poached-Style Egg

This is not the same as a traditional poached egg, but it gives a soft egg cooked in water.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • A little water

Instructions

  1. Add a shallow layer of water to a ramekin.
  2. Crack in the egg.
  3. Cover the ramekin with foil.
  4. Air fry at 180°C until the white is set and the yolk is done to your liking.
